SAGA OF "CHICORY'S ESCAPE FROM THE PUPPY MILL''

About Three Halloweens ago a High Kill Shelter I Believe towards Riverside picked up a Dog that they thought escaped from a puppy mill.

She was strange looking middle size, brown and red and black Merle coloring with two different colored eyes and was high strung and pregnant. She was later identified as a "Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Cur" of course no one reported her lost because, if it was a Puppy Mill they would have investigated the situation.

In Lieu of her being euthanized one of the Shelter workers contacted a excellent Rescue group called "Cuddly Canines". One of the members Lara Hall and her Husband took the unique dog and gave her shelter in their home and named her "Chicory" They supported her with the Birth of four Beautiful puppies. They found nice homes for them.

Since Chicory was not trained (Used for Breeding) and did fight with other Dogs She had a Challenge in finding her a home. After about Six months she was adopted but unfortunately she got into a scrabble with another Dog at her new home and was hospitalized and returned to Lara.

Lara, lovingly mended her wounds and brought her back to health.

About six months later, in April 2010 at the Orange County Pet Expo, Lara and Chicory were at the Cuddly Canine Booth.

I and a friend, Daughter (Tara) and her friend were walking the show. My Daughter and I lived for Two Years in Louisiana and I always wanted a Catahoula Leopard Cur.

I saw a dog that looked like one. The women told me that it was a mixed breed, but if I was interested in a pure Catahoula to see Lara at Cuddly Canines.

Lara, was wonderful and very informative about Chicory and the Breed History and Traits.

We decided to take Chicory on a part time trial bases (We had over a dozen birds) and had some reservations.

After a month we fully adopted "The Escapee from a Puppy Mill"

I can write you a 400 pages book on the adventure of Chicory and me but I am sure you would not have time to read it.

To give you a brief Recap:

She is friendly with most the Birds. My Sun Conure says “Good Morning and Good Night Chicory”.

She is a Rescue Dog that rescued our Family. I was going through some trying times with my Business and Health.

We needed to be with each other at all times. My Doctor saw the need and prescribed her as my Therapy Dog. She is now a Close to Certified Service Dog. She goes to the Doctors and Hospital with me.

I work in the Fashion Industry and she travels with me to work and goes to the restaurants with me. "We are inseparable"

The God's of Animals gave Chicory a second chance in helping her "ESCAPE FROM A PUPPY MILL'' and thank you God for finding me Chicory who has brought me back to "HAPPINESS AND SUCCESS".

Again thank you for read and give me the opportunity to share the SAGA OF "CHICORY'S ESCAPE FROM THE PUPPY MILL''
